Ribbon Background Card

I put together this quick card for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog.

It's an easy way to use ribbons for a background.  I'm trying to downsize my craft stash a bit but this card didn't really make a dent in my ribbon collection!

I'm planning to make a few more backgrounds in various colors to have on hand when I need a quick card.  I'll add a greeting when I need it.

You can find all the directions with step out photos HERE.

Happy crafting!

Special Friend Birthday Card wtih Gold Accents

Sponsored:  As a designer on the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team,, I am provided with dies to create projects. I'm also a designer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and receive product from them.

Today I have a Special Friend Birthday Card with Gold Accents to share.  This card showcases a die cut frame cut with S5-369 Ringlet Round from gold metallic card stock.  Corner accents were cut from the same paper using a die from S5-367 Swirl Tags. I've used navy ribbon, navy cardstock and  a grayish tan patterned background paper.

To make this card, I cut gold cardstock with S5-369 Ringlet Round using the edge die, design die and the inner edge die.  Navy silk ribbon is loosely woven through the pattern and tied at the side.  I used the inner die to cut a piece of patterned Echo Park paper for the center.  A Penny Black verse is stamped with Versafine Clair Twilight.  I added a touch of shading around the edges with Distress Pumice Stone ink. I centered the gold frame on square of patterned paper and fastened it with E-Z Runner® Micro Refillable Dispenser.  The verse is popped up and fastened with 3D Foam Squares – Black Mix.

I cut 4 pieces of the gold cardstock with one of the decorative dies from S5-367 Swirl Tags. I slipped each one over the corners and added a pearl.  These layers are fastened to navy cardstock using
E-Z Dots® Permanent Refillable Dispenser and E-Z Runner® Ultra Refillable Dispenser. I use the Ultra on the corners and the Dots along the edges.  The next layer is same patterned paper as center, also shaded along edges with Distress Pumice Stone ink.  All are fastened to a 6 x 6 inch white card.

I added 3 pearls under verse. A gold button with pearl center is fastened over gold cord bow and over the navy bow with Adhesive Dots 3D

A very special card for a special friend - a Special Friend Birthday Card with Gold Accents!

Bundle of Joy Card

Sponsored:  A part of the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team, I am provided with dies to create projects. Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L provides adhesives.

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a Bundle of Joy Card!  It features Amazing Paper Grace Layered Bundle of Joy and Ornamental Arch – 3D Vignettes dies.

When I started working on this card, I wasn't sure how easy it would be to put the layers of Bundle of Joy together.  I was happy to find it was quite easy!  The hardest part was choosing colors to contrast with white words and stork.  I wanted a soft color combination, yet enough definition and contrast. I like how it turned out!
My white card base is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.  I covered the front with dotted paper using E-Z Dots® Permanent Refillable Dispenser to fasten it. The next layer is lime green patterned paper cut with outer arch die from Ornamental Arch – 3D Vignettes.  I cut Ornamental Arch filigree arch of white cardstock with outer die from Layered Bundle of Joy to cut inner opening.  Looking back, I could have left that solid as I covered it with a different patterned paper. It's fastened to lime background using E-Z Runner® Micro Refillable Dispenser which applies a narrow adhesive strip that fits along the edges.   I cut an inner arch piece of a different patterned paper to put in center.
The Stork and Bundle of Joy pieces are cut from white cardstock.  The stork one is fastened directly to the card.  Bundle of Joy is popped up with Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix.  I cut the small squares in half and put them along the edge. It's just enough dimension!  I cut the stork's bag out of dotted paper and fastened over the white one.  The rattle is cut from lime paper. It's popped up with Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix.  A tiny bow is held in place with  Adhesive Dots Mini

Simply mix up the colors for boy or girl!  A fun card to make!

Thanks for stopping!

Judy

Joy Christmas Card

Good day!  I hope you've had a chance to stop over at the Spellbinders' 12 Days of Christmas Blog post today!  I share a new die - S4-434 Holiday Greetings - and a technique to use Scor-Tape and glitter.  Yesterday, I posted a peek at another card created with the word "JOY" and snowflakes from Holiday Greetings die.  Here's the card.........

It's a different take on holiday colors!  I was experimenting with the die cuts using black paper. I couldn't just throw away this glitter strip with black letters!  So I rubbed the "JOY" letters with DecoArt Metallic Lustre Champagne Ice.  It adds the silver looking color on embossed areas.  It's layered over a piece of stripe ribbon.  I distressed a piece of music paper and sewed it to a black card. The 3 snowflakes are also die cuts from Holiday Greetings die.  There are 3 pieces of narrow ribbon glued across the bottom of the card with 3 silver beads on one.  I stamped a holiday script over the music but it's not very visible.  It adds a little character to the music paper!

I hope you've enjoyed this card as well as the cards on Spellbinders' Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas blog hop!

An Embossed and Gilded Tag

I finally took time this evening to make something just for my blog!!!  It's been a very long time.......  Thanks and big hugs to all my loyal followers who haven't given up on me!!!

So tonight I set out to do a quick tag.....

The embossing was quick!  The rest was a bit more involved!

I used one of Spellbinders new 3D M-Bossabilities folders to emboss a manilla tag!  The embossing is amazing!  Very deep!  This pattern is E3D-005 Ornamental Swirls.  The folder embosses a 5 x 7" area.  I used just the bottom of it for my tag.  At the top I embossed lines using just a portion of EL-026 Framed Petite Labels (not 3D).  Okay, that was the easy part!!!

Next, I rubbed on Baroque Art Gilders Paste.  I just recently added a few of these to my stash.  The shine is amazing after buffing. I don't think they were exactly developed for paper but they work!

I started with Patina.

Then I added Blue Iris......

Pretty cool!  Except I didn't exactly like the tag color showing in the deep areas of the embossing.  So I decide to try Tattered Angels Pomegranate Glimmer Mist over the tag.  The Gilders Paste is a waxy product so I expected it to repel the Glimmer Mist.

It did repel the color in some areas.  Other areas absorbed more than I wanted.  The question: Start over or keep adding color?   I added more color!!

I dried the Glimmer Mist.  Then I added more Gilders Paste.  I added Antique Gold next.  Then more Iris Blue and even a touch of Copper.  I kept rubbing on color, buffing it and adding more until it was "okay".  I needed to get it done so I could go to bed!  LOL!

Once I added the ribbon and tag, I loved the colors!

The frame part of the tag was cut from white cs.  I sprayed it with Pomegranate Glimmer Mist and added a touch of Iris Blue Gilders Paste around the edges.  The greeting from Quietfire Designs is stamped on pale sage card stock and glued behind.  Both tags are from Spellbinders S4-392 Framed Tags One.  Love these tags because there's a cut out for each one that's also a tag in itself.  You can see the set here

The sheer ribbon is from May Arts.  I tied the tag on with gold thread.

The color is wonderful but the most amazing part is the detail and incredible dimensional effect of the embossing created with the 3D M-Bossabilities folder!  You will love these!!!
