Asteroid Belt Card

Hello!

It's been a very long time.......

......... I needed to step back and adjust priorities. I needed to simplify and eliminate some  things in my life. Unfortunately, my blog got neglected, mostly because I haven't done much creating that I could share. I hope this is the start of posting again.   Thanks to all of you who are still following!

Last Saturday, Fond Memories held their fall workshop. It was a fun day teaching  this card:

I created the colorful background with a new stamp called Asteroid Belt from Impression Obsession designed by Seth Apter.  He just released a whole collection.  (you can see his blog here and his webpage here.)  The image was stamped repeatedly across white card stock and heat embossed with black EP.  Then the color was sponged on.  These are new Distress colors Twisted Citron(green) and Blueprint Sketch (blue). Love this combination!  A few spritzes of water over the ink added water spots.  Small accent dots were added with Imagine Crafts irRESISTible Pico Embellisher Tuxedo Black.   The verse was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.  Bakers twine is stapled to the verse strip.  A very simple card sketch and easy to make!

Happy creating!

Fond Memories Workshop Projects

Today, I'm teaching at Fond Memories'  Fall Workshop (my LSS) .  Always a fun day!  After  many weeks of preparation we finaly get to share all the new products and beautiful creations made with those products!   You can see all the cards on the Fond Memories blog.....here.   There are 10 projects.  Nine are individual cards and one is a set of little fall note cards.

I created 2 of the 10 card projects.  One uses the new Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia!  The reason being is I had that set to work with long before they were in the stores.  Honestly, the sets that we ordered at CHA just came in this past week in time for the workshop!  Hooray for that!

I used paper by Authentique and Graphic 45 on the card front.  The poinsettia and leaves were cut and embossed. Then Distress inks were rubbed over the veins - Aged Mahogany on the poinsettia and Forest Moss on the leaves. The flower center is Candi  from Craftworkscards.  Distress Antique Linen was rubbed over the entire card front.  A quick way to "age" the paper!  I tied a very loose bow of seam binding that was colored with Antique Linen Stain.  A little strip with the verse is held in place with a pearl head pin.

My second card uses a stamp from Penny Black....

The background for the stamp was created with Broken China, Wild Honey and Weathered Wood Distress Stains.  I taught some of the demonstrators how to make this card on Thursday.  It was pretty amazing to see the background tranformed once this image was stamped on it!  Most of them didn't like the background until the image was stamped over it!!!   I used some new big background stamps from Impression Obsession to create the pattern on the Kraft card front.  By using Distress inks to match the stains, the colors are totally coordinated.  Even the seam binding has been colored with Distress Stain!

Hope you enjoy this inspiration!  I'll see some of you at the workshop!!!!

Happy Creating!

Missing Fond Memories' workshop!

Hello all!

I'm still in Arizona at the Spellbinders Design Team Retreat!  I'm having a great time!

Today, I'm missing the Fond Memories Spring Workshop.  I think I've been at every one since the beginning.  For all you Fond Memories fans, I miss you!  Hope you're having a great day!  I know there are lots of great cards to create!

This is a card I created for the workshop.....

The one they're creating at the workshop is just a tiny bit different.
I've used the new Sprightly Sprockets from Spellbinders to cut all the gears!   They coordinate so well with Technique Tuesday's "Get It in Gear" stamp set!  I've used it for stamping the gears in the center as well as the verse.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose.  The screw brads are from Creative Impressions.
Thinking about all of you at the workshop!

Happy Creating! -judy

A Pearlescent Wedding Card

I created this card for Fond Memories' Valentine's Card Party stamping event this weekend. They're featuring Spellbinder's dies and Valentine's greetings. A pretty wedding card seemed appropriate for the event.
I used all pearlescent papers. The embossed frame was cut from pearlescent cream card stock using a Spellbinder's frame die that also has a wider border for embossing. It really shows off the embossed pattern and has such a pretty sheen. The 2 sided background paper is from Reminisce.
I used Ranger Adirondack Espresso ink to stamp the hearts & greeting, then heat embossed with clear powder.
A pretty ribbon with sheen is the finishing touch. The design is simple yet elegant.
Enjoy!

Guest Designer for Artistic Outpost!

This is the moment I've been waiting for.......

Today, I was named a Guest Designer for Artistic Outpost for 2009!

Wow! I'm so excited!

I applied at the beginning of November. I found out I made the team about a week ago. I had to keep it a secret.........how hard was that! I wanted to shout it to the world!

I'll be designing several projects for one of the new stamp plates scheduled to be released in mid December. I hope to receive the stamps this week........ Then, let the creativity begin! Once the stamps are released, I'll post projects here. That is once I get the go ahead from Artistic Outpost.

I created this tag with the Artistic Outpost Bluebird plate for my application for Guest Designer.

I used Distress inks......of course, what else is there?

To create the swallows highlight, I stamped them on white paper with black Versafine ink. I used Adirondack markers, Denim & Butterscotch & Caramel, over the swallows to give them color. The background blue is Broken China rubbed on with Cut N Dry foam. I applied Glossy Accents to a Tim Holtz Fragment (clear acrylic shape) & glued it over the swallows. Once it was dry, I trimmed the paper around the edges. I'm super pleased with how it turned out!

I even distressed the ribbon so it would match. I rubbed Broken China over this wonderful new ribbon from May Arts.......I say new because it's new to Fond Memories, my favorite stamp store in Walnut Grove, Minnesota.

I'm flyin' high tonight......soo excited!
