Amazing Paper Grace November Die of the Month Blog Hop

Sponsored:  As a designer for Amazing Paper Grace, I receive dies to create projects.   I'm also a designer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and receive product to use.

Christmas is on the horizon and of course, as makers, made Christmas Cards are our hallmark during the holidays.  This month's APG Die of the Month is Winters Solstice Snowflake.  It is a delicate doily looking snowflake done in a regal way to usher in the Holiday Season.

The Snowflake was designed by Becca but if you know her well, as a budget crafter, she intends for you to use the design year-round.  Her holiday offerings always can be dressed up for Holidays and dressed down for any other occasion and the same is true with Winters Solstice Snowflake.

For today's hop, I made a card and matching gift bag.  This Die of the Month is so versatile because it's a classic design that can be used for the holidays as well as everyday card making. I chose to make a holiday gift bag and card.   Check out the other designers posts for a diverse array of projects.  Links to their blogs are at end of my post.
My Project Today:

I've layered a die cut in cream cut with large design element over dusty green paper.  I added a gold frame to accent the center.  These were all done with the dies as they are, no special cutting!  If you follow my blog, you know I like to push the limits and make my dies do other things! Not so with this projects.

I used the large outer from die to cut gold paper to make the gold edges.  I re cut the large piece to make borders.

I cut the poinsettias from white paper.  I used Distress Oxide Sprays and Distress Inks to color them.  The centers are sparkly....not really visible in the photo.  I also misted the flowers with Imagine Crafts Shimmer Spritz Sparkle.

Both the card and gift bag are very similar.  On the card, I added a cream open border below the main image.  Plus I added the verse across the top.  The gift bag has 3 beads hanging on gold cord at the point of main die cut image.  No verse on my bag but one could easily add that to the bag as well.  Or make a matching tag.

Old Fashioned Merry Christmas Card

Here’s an Old Fashioned Merry Christmas Card with an image from Authentique Vintage Christmas Paper. I used new die from Charming Christmas Boughs to cut frame. I added a touch of gold with "Merry Christmas" and gold mat.

To make the frame, i cut Charming Christmas Boughs from dark red and cream cardstock. I used negative pieces from cream paper to fit into the dark red frame. It was just luck that I tried that!  I liked how it looked as it complimented the background color of the image. The frame is layered onto a traditional red mat, then gold and dark red mats.  Striped paper (back side of Authentique paper with image) covers card front.  “Merry Christmas “ is cut from gold paper with Adhesive Sheets applied before cutting. That makes it so easy to fasten it to the card. A gold cord is tied around the fold edge.

Thanks for visiting!

Happy creating!
Judy

Poinsettia Gift Box

Sponsored:  As a designer on the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team,, I am provided with dies to create projects. I'm also a designer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and receive product from them.

Sorry to be late with my Amazing Paper Grace post ...too many things interfered with my spare time.  Or should I say "what spare time?"  Today, I made some time to put together a Poinsettia Gift Box with new dies from A Charming Christmas from Becca Feeken for Spellbinders.  Love her new Cinch and Go Poinsettia set!  I used the Charming Cottage to make my box. Check it out on Spellbinders website to see what a cute cottage it makes!  I also used Charming Christmas Words
to make a border around the box.

To make the border, I cut 2 of Noel words with frame that has edge of small holes.  It's cut from white cardstock with Adhesive Sheets applied to the front side.  Once it was cut, I covered the adhesive with glitter.  So easy!

I cut lavender pieces with the border die only to layer under the words.  I fastened the border to the box before fully assembling it.  The box is 2 die cut pieces fastened at 2 edges.  I used double sided tape to fasten together and to fasten the border.  I fastened one side at a time, bending border at the corners as it was fastened.  You can see seam where I put two borders together. I finished putting the box together by securing other edge and flaps on bottom.

I added rectangles of white cardstock at top of box but it's not very visible in any of my photos.  The flowers are fastened over it.
I made 2 lavender poinsettias, one large and one small.  Glitter stamens form the centers. I used hot glue to hold them together. For the leaves, I cut the largest poinsettia out of green paper and cut it apart.

The flowers are fastened to the box with hot glue. A bow of white seam binding is tucked under the flowers.

This pretty Poinsettia Gift Box can easily hold a gift of jewelry or candies or gift card!

If you have any questions, send me an email or leave a comment with your email so I can answer.

Elegant Swirl Birthday Card

Sponsored:  As a designer on the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team,, I am provided with dies to create projects. I'm also a designer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and receive product from them.

Good Morning!  It's Sunday and time for another Amazing Paper Grace project.  Today, I've used Sweetheart Swirl dies along with Cascading Grace to make an Elegant Swirl Birthday Card.

I've used Cougar Natural cardstock for 5 x 7 inch card base. The layers from card up are shiny gold metallic cardstock, then Cougar Natural.  Next is a green shaped layer cut with Cascading Grace
outer edge die.  Layered onto it are die cut pieces at the corners.  These were cut with a label die from Cascading Grace.  I cut each label in half to use each end at a corner.  The paper had Adhesive Sheets 4 x 6 inch applied to the back before cutting.  That makes it so easy to fasten it in place on my card! The cut ends of the labels are covered by swirl oval.

I used the edge die from Sweetheart Swirl to cut patterned paper. I really like that I can use just the edge die to cut a solid piece for a mat behind the design oval!  The swirl pattern piece was cut with the edge die and design die.  The layers are fastened together with E-Z Runner® Permanent Strips Refillable Dispenser.    It's popped up on the card with 3D Foam Squares – White Mix . I cut  the oval center piece with die from Sweetheart Swirl out of natural paper.  It's stamped with Fallen Leaves ink using a stamp from Penny Black 'sprigs' set.  It's popped up with Thin 3D Foam Squares White Mix.

The medallion piece from Sweetheart Swirl was cut from shiny gold metallic cardstock.  I added a large pearl to the center.  Love how pretty it looks cut from the gold paper!  It's fastened with Adhesive Dots Medium Ultra Thin over three pieces of sheer ribbon, green and aqua. I've also added a bow of gold threads behind the medallion. The ribbon ends are tucked behind the gold rectangle mat.

I hope I've given you some inspiration today!
Thanks so much for stopping!

Graceful Swirl Booklet

Sponsored:  As a designer on the Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team, I am provided with dies to create projects. I'm also a designer for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and receive product from them.

It's Sunday with an Amazing Paper Grace project!  I made a little booklet that I call Graceful Swirl Booklet. It's made with S5-368  Graceful Doily for the center medallion and S5-366 Swirl Background to cut design to cover front.  Both of these dies are so intricate and beautiful! I also used S5-363 Swirl Booklet Insert to frame a verse inside front cover.

Graceful Swirl Booklet is 5 x 6 inches.  The cover is 100 lb. Kraft cardstock.  Pages are ivory paper that's heavier than printer paper but not quite cardstock weight.  I cut 5 pages 6 x 9¾.  Each one was scored and folded. I nested them together to make a signature.  Five evenly spaced holes were made with needle tool in the fold.  I trimmed the outer edges of the pages even when they were nested together.  I recommend waiting to sew the pages to the cover until it's finished.  Otherwise, the pages could easily get ink on them.

To decorate the cover, I cut 2 of S5-366 Swirl Background from black cardstock to which Adhesive Sheets 6 x 12 inch was applied on the back. I must admit this intricate background cut the cardstock but didn't quite cut through the adhesive backing after 2 passes through die cut machine.  That made it a bit challenging to take all the pieces out of it.  I cut two so I could layer them together to be thicker.  I fastened it to the booklet cover by peeling adhesive backing and pressing in place.  I used my heat gun to warm the adhesive  for a better hold.  (photo shows cords at center....I redid that for the finished booklet)

My next step was to rub Distress Concord Grape ink over the entire cover.  I used Black Soot to darken the edges a little.

The medallion from bottom up is a black cardstock circle base cut with Spellbinders Standard Circles SM #6 die. Next is a circle of black cut with circle from S5-368  Graceful Doily.  Layered over it is a "donut" circle cut with both circles and outer pattern dies form S5-368  Graceful Doily.  Cardstock had Adhesive Sheets on back which made it easy to fasten to the black circle.  I rubbed Metallic Lustre Iced Espresso over it so it looks metallic.  In the center is circle cut from black cardstock.  It's fastened with E-Z Runner® Ultra Refillable Dispenser , my favorite adhesive dispenser when using Distress inks.  The resins in the inks make it hard to get adhesive to stick.  The E-Z Runner Ultra works!  The last piece for the medallion is 2 of the decorative circle cut from black cardstock with Adhesive Sheets applied to back.  I layered the 2 pieces together for more dimension. It's also rubbed with Iced Espresso Metallic Lustre.  I added a bit more adhesive to the center with E-Z Runner Ultra  for extra hold when I fastened it in place.  Finally, a purple rhinestone is fastened in the center.

The last step is to sew the signature and cover together.  I started at the top because I wanted the cord ends to dangle from there. I stitched through cover and pages to bottom and then stitched back to top.  After knotting the cords together, I added some beads to the ends.
Inside the cover, I added an insert with verse on the first page in the booklet.  It was cut with
S5-363 Swirl Booklet Insert from black cardstock.  Verse is stamped on same paper as pages with Versafine Clair Monarch ink.

Thanks for visiting!
