Flowers Feed the Soul Journal

No jewelry in this post but I did use more Spellbinders Media Mixage™ products!

This is a project I did for Spellbinders.  You can find it on their website here.  There's even a link to download the instructions.

My inspiration was to make a garden journal.  A place for notes about  anything gardening!  Since I made the journal with my Bind-It-All machine, I added envelopes as dividers between the pages. A spot to tuck in a seed packet or info about a new plant.

The aqua flower inside the dark blue flower is a Spellbinders blank from MB6-004 Flowers One.  There's another one peaking out from under the pink flower. The blanks are gold color.  I used ink to color it with clear embossing powder over it.  The other flowers are paper, inked and clear heat embossed.  I used MD2-004 Flowers One matching set of dies to cut
those.
The label was cut with another Media Mixage die, MD2-001 Frames One.  I inked through the die and then stamped the verse.

The butterfly is the larger blank from MB6-008 Butterflies One.  I used the matching die set, MD2-008 Butterflies One to cut the paper for the wings.  The paper is white cardstock colored with pigment inks and clear heat embossed. There's a touch of gold embossing powder sprinkled over top and heated into the clear.  I hand cut a piece of paper to make the "body" of the butterfly and glued it to the blank.

For more info and the full directions, you can find the download here.

Happy Crafting!

Nesties Besties Blog Hop

Good Morning!!!!

Today, I have a special treat for you!  Some of the Spellbinders Design Team are hosting a blog hop - The Nesties Besties Blog Hop!  We are each showcasing one of our Spellbinders projects from the Idea Gallery.  You'll find lots of inspiration!  Lots of Spellbinders products, too!!!!   Even some blog candy!!!!

Here are links to the other design team members who are participating:

I chose my Flowers Feed the Soul Journal to show today!

This journal features some of the Media Mixage blanks and matching die templates.  You can find downloadable directions for this book on Spellbinders website here.  I'm not going to repeat all the directions since they are available to download.

The butterfly is a metal blank from SPellbinders Butterflies One blank set.  It has paper pieces glued to the wings.  I  cut the paper with the Sellbinders die template:   Spellbinders™ Butterflies One which matches the blank set.  To add color,  I've applied pigment ink and heat embossed it with clear.  I sprinkled a touch of gold embossing powder over top and heated it.

The little paper flowers were cut with Spellbinders™ Flowers One die template set.  Two of the flowers are metal blanks: one is peaking out from under the pink flower and the other is the center aqua flower on the big blue flower.  It's colored with ink and heat embossed with clear.  These are part of the set Spellbinders™ Flowers One blanks set.

I've also used a Media Mixage die template set for the verse label - Spellbinders Frames One.  I inked through the die to add the shading around the edges.  The verse is from Flourishes stamp set "From the Garden".

The background rectangle and frame were cut with Spellbinders™ S5-171 A2 Round Corner Basics A.  I used 2 dies nested together to cut the frame.  The frame has been embossed with
M-Bossabilities So Trendy.   I stamped a branch from Penny Black's "A Wish for Peace" clear set with black ink, and then added nail polish to the dots on the branches.   I stamped the same branch on the book cover.

The journal itself has chipboard covers covered with light Kraft packing paper and designer paper on the inside. I added My Mind's Eye paper to the outside of the covers.  Inside, there are pages for notes and sketches as well as envleopes that divide the paper sections and add a place to tuck seeds and garden notes.

Blog Candy GIVEAWAY!!!

I have a set of Spellbinders™ S5-171 A2 Round Corner Basics A (without packaging) to give away!!!!  Just leave a comment for a chance to win.
I'll use Random Number Generator to choose a winner a week from today.  Please leave your email address so I can contact you or check back next week!  Good luck!

A Fun Birthday Card

Here's a card I created for the March PageMaps newsletter.

This card features the postage shape from a new Spellbinders set designed by Becky Fleck called S4-359 Office Supplies. Each month Becky is releasing a new set.  Office Supplies was released for February.   A new set was just released for March.  You can see it on the PageMaps or Spellbinders websites.

If you'd like to see the March newsletter with more cards and scrapbook pages, click here.  Many of the Spellbinders DT created cards for the newsletter.

For this card, I used paper from Echo Park's Little Boy Collection except for one of the solid colors which is from the Little Girl collection.  The little stars were cut with a die template from Spellbinders S5-089 Home Sweet Home.  I love to sand the edges to bring out the white paper core.

The pennant is from Spellbinders S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants.  The birthday greeting is from Flourishes Birthday Pennants.  I stamped it with Ranger Denim ink and clear embossed it.  I've added a little knot of floss to the pennant and each star.

This was a fun card to put together!  I never work from a sketch so it was a new challenge.  It's certainly easier to just pick out the papers and then follow the sketch!   Of course, I did agonize over it a bit!!!  That's just me!

Have a super day!

Tea Cup Gratitude Card

Hello all!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We sure did!  I even did a little Black Friday shopping with my daugher!  Spending time with her was the fun part!

It's a really, really busy week for me!  Lots of commitments due!  Besides that our church has a cookie walk on Saturday.  I usually bake from 50-80 dozen cookies for that.  It's not looking good for getting that many done this time!

I'm taking a little break to post this card.

I put this together awhile back when I created my "Let your light shine" card using the Spellbinders™ Tea Cup as a lamp shade.  You can see that post here!

This is a little more traditional use of the Tea Cup shape.  I used the same Flourishes stamp only colored it differently.  This one has a more oriental look.  It reminds me of some tea cups my Grandma gave to me from her collection.  They all have flowers on them!  For years we gave her one every Christmas!

I'm not going to give directions today.  All the supplies are listed below.  Email me if you have any questions!

Flourishes Blog Hop

Today, I'm participating in a blog hop for Flourishes!   Blogger has made the day quite challenging because it absolutely didn't work!  There was no way to make a post last night.   Finally, it's up again!  And I'm home from work to make a post!

Here's a little blurb from Flourishes:
We don’t need to tell you that tags and labels are two of the trendiest items to hit the card making market in a long time! And, to help you add style and pizzazz to your creations, Flourishes has teamed up with Spellbinders Paper Arts to make sure you have the perfect set of stamps to match a darling set of tag style dies. Wonderfully whimsical and reminiscent of Grandma’s calico prints, Flourishes “charming” set offers three labels that coordinate perfectly with Spellbinders Grommet Tags (S4-322). Designed by Becky Fleck, you'll also find 6 beautiful sentiments and 4 accent stamps to dress up your labels! Pair that with Flourishes Country Charm Borders and you have the perfect set to make darling note cards in minutes. Flourishes coordinating Country Charm Borders set features five border strips that match the labels set to a tee. What fun!

This set is called Country Charm Labels.  The labels fit Spellbinders Grommet Tags S4-322.  Great tags and verses for note cards!

This set is Country Charm Borders.  Notice all the coordinating prints in the borders to work perfectly with Country Charm Tags!

I would love to have used both sets for a card but  I just plain didn't have time this week!  Lots of things scheduled and a few things that popped up.  That always throws a monkey wrench in my plans!!!

My card was created with a label and verse from Country Charm Labels.

I stamped the label first with Versafine Onyx Black and clear heat embossed it.   I cut it out with the matching Spellbinders Grommet Tag.  I added a touch of color to the center with Distress Wild Honey ink.  So easy to do with Spellbinders die templates!!! Leave the paper in the template and add the ink. Perfect!
I cut 2 more of the tag, one of white and one of black.  These I cut in half lengthwise and added them to each edge of my stamped Grommet Tag.  That's how I got the black and white borders!
I cut several flowers to layer from Spellbinders Rose Creations and Carnation Creations.  I've added a touch on Wild Honey to the petals.  Each has a black wire stem and black brad center.
The DP is from Graphic 45 Curtain Call Collection 8 x 8 pad.  I've added black and white borders.  The yellow card front has a touch of Wild Honey along each edge.

I sure hope you enjoyed your stop here!  So sorry I couldn't get this posted sooner.   Keep hoppin' to see lots of inspiration.   All the blogs listed below.

Flourishes Sneak Peak - A Gift for You

Today, I have a card to share that I created with  Flourishes' brand new set called, A Gift for You.   Flourishes is sneak peaking this new set today and some of the Spellbinders’ team is joining in on the fun!
This set was designed not only to coordinate with some of Flourishes best-selling Christmas stamp sets but with more than a handful of Spellbinders Template Dies! A Gift For You - drawn by the ever-so-talented Marcella Hawley - offers 8 different tag styles and 8 different mini sentiments to fit inside! To make sure your tags come out with a regal style and design, this set coordinates with Spellbinders Labels 14, Labels 15, Labels 16, as well as some of the new circular and square shaped designs like Lacey Circles and Squares, Eyelet Circles and Squares and Beaded Circles! The customizable options are endless.

Although this set is designed for tags, I chose to create a Christmas card.

I first stamped the bow with greenery which includes a dotted border that works with Spellbinders S4-290 Labels Fourteen #4.  I used that die template to cut and emboss it after stamping.  I added the little bird and greenery at the bottom.  Isn't the detail amazing?
I stamped the bird a second time to cut out and glue over top for a little dimension.  I used Copic markers to color all the images with some glitter on the ornaments added with Spica markers.
To add the gold edge, I ran a Versamark marker along the edge, then added gold EP and heat embossed it.  Merry Christmas was stamped and embossed, too, then cut with Spellbinders S4-112 Classic Ovals SM #2.  I added a gold border in the same way.
I used S5-025 Labels Seventeen #4 for the red mat.  I added little gold metallic dots (Metallic Decor from Hero Arts) at each corner.  I distressed all the pieces with Antique Linen and a touch of Vintage Photo before assembly.
I added a green mat to a cream top fold card - 3 1/4" x 4 5/8".   The colored image is mounted with foam tape. I wrapped the ribbon around the inside of the card and gathered the ends on the front.  I wrapped 2 pieces of gold cord over the ribbon and adhered them in the center also.  The Merry Christmas oval is mounted with foam tape over the ribbon ends.  I added 2 more of the little metal dots at each end.

For more inspiration, be sure to check out what these Spellbinders' and Flourishes' designers created for this release!  You won't be disappointed!!
