Artistic Outpost French Flight Release

Today is the release of Artistic Outpost’s new stamp set French Flight!

French Flight is the newest addition to Artistic Outpost's catalogue of unique vintage inspired stamp collections.
In the late 1700's , two French brothers, Joseph and Etienne Montgolfier launched the first manned ballon from the from the center of Paris and flew for a period of 20 minutes.  In 1793, Jean Pierre Blanchard became the first to fly a hot air balloon in North America, yet another French adventurer!
This stamp collection pays homage to these adventurers. Fun, quirky, with a little bit of steampunk thrown in for good measure, French Flight is pure creative delight.
Collection available in both unmounted rubber sheets or pre-mounted on EZMount cling foam and hand trimmed on a clear cling storage card!

As most Artistic Outpost stamp sets do, this set coordinates well with many of the other sets, especially Paris Expo. 

I created this collage with most of the stamps from French Flight.  They all work so well together.  The hot air balloon is from Paris Exposition.

My base for the collage is glassine paper, a paper with a waxy coating.  It just naturally makes the stamping look vintage.  It was my first time using it.  I really like the effect.  I simply stamped all the images with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink, no Distress ink at all!  That’s amazing, huh?  I almost always use some Distress ink.  The beauty of this paper is that it has a vintage color already.
This is a very simple collage to do.  I started with a piece of glassine paper that’s 3 3/8” x 4 1/8”.  I stamped the 3 gentlemen first.  Then I stamped them again on text weight (printer/copy) paper to make a mask. I cut it out.   I used repositionable tape to stick it over my stamped image.  Then I stamped the other images starting with the balloon (Paris Expo) and adding images from French Flight.  I stamped the title at the bottom and filled in with  script.  Remove the mask and “ta da!”, a great collage!  Easy!!
For the card, the collage is mounted on a piece of ivory card stock.  I did use Vintage Photo Distress ink on the edges of that!  Both are layered onto a black mat.  Then I added black brads at each corner. The card base is actually Kraft color.  I rubbed Distress inks along the edges until it blended well with my collage.   I kept the card very simple to focus attention on the collage.

Good for Something

Hello Blogger Friends!

I have a card to share today created with stamps from Artistic Outpost. 

The verse is from the new set Typography!  What a great collection of verses to compliment all the Artistic Outpost stamps!

The barn scene is from the set Home.  After I stamped it with Espresso ink, I cut around the barn part.  That eliminated the cancellation stamp that's part of the stamp.  I used Distress inks to add touches of color.  I used my finger as my paint tool to add all the color so it's very rustic!  Then I stamped the boy and fence from Paris Exposition, again with Espresso ink.  Doesn't he fit in well with the barn?  I thought it worked well enough!  He's colored with Distress inks, too!  Both the barn scene and boy are mounted with foam tape.  I stamped and matted the verse and added just a touch of Distress inks.  It mounted with foam tape, too. There's a brown mat around all on a Kraft card front.  I added some brown twine across the bottom.

It's a good thing I have a few things to post that I created awhile back......I just haven't had any time to stamp this week.  I've been working on my layout for the Spellbinders contest.  The dies arrived last Saturday.  I had worked on rough ideas using just the Inverted Circles before then since I already had those dies.   Once I had both the Film Strip and Inverted Circles, I just wasn't able to work the Film Strip into those ideas.  I came up with a new plan Saturday afternoon......it's progressing nicely.  Can't share yet.....

In the meantime, I have a card to show you that I created using stamps from Paris Exposition by Artistic Outpost.  I stamped the lady on glossy cardstock with Ranger Archival black ink.  She's colored with Distress inks. The background paper is Ancestral Tapestry by ANW Crestwood/TPC Studio.  I added Flower Soft to the centers of the paper flowers.  The lace is punched with a Martha Stewart punch.

Joie de vivre!

Paris Expo Mini Scrapbook

.....created using one of Artistic Outpost's new stamp releases - Paris Expo.

I intended to create a masculine card when I first stamped the 3 men for the faux photo. It just flowed into a vintage mini album.
The cover is black card stock. I scored it to fold and look like an old scrap book. I tied the covers and pages together with old string.
The photo image is stamped on glossy white card stock and distressed with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Black Soot. I used Eclipse mask strips on the edge while I added color to it. After I removed the mask strips, I added some ink to tone down the stark white. My DH asked me who was in the photo when he saw it!
I stamped "Le Ballon" and "1899" to create a faux ticket. I added a stamped piece of mica at the top of the "photo". I wrote the date below the photo with Ranger white gel pen and rubbed it for a worn look.
I'm especially please with the "medallion" that I created. I glued a piece of gold craft foil to light chipboard. Then I cut it out and embossed it with a Spellbinders circle die. I used some metal alphabet stamps to emboss the letters and date. I added color with Copic markers dabbed with my finger before it dried and finished with black StazOn.

Here are 2 cards I created using these new sets......

I used stamps from Paris Exposition as well as die cut letters for this card. I started the collage with the woman, then masked her with Eclipse tape. Next, I stamped the big balloon and masked it to stamp the small balloon. The Eiffel Tower and "1899" were added last. Since the lady didn't show up well in my collage, I stamped her again on a scrap of paper, colored her with Distress inks, cut her out and added her over the collage. I like the dimension that it added - no foam tape, just the paper thickness. "PARIS" was cut with QuicKutz dies out of black paper that I had embossed. I applied embossing ink and rubbed Perfect Pearls into the ink to get the metallic color. All the coloring was done with Distress inks.

This is my favorite of the samples I made with Birds of a Feather. The robin and nest were stamped with Adirondack Espresso, colored with Distress inks and cut out. I used the text stamp for the background, again colored with Distress inks. The card front was stamped with 2 swirly, floral stamps using Distress Broken China on cream paper. I then rubbed Antique Linen over it which muted and softened the blue images. It was really easy to do! I love how it turned out. "Spring is here" was die cut with a Spellbinders die. I added some lace....fastened a bit differently.....buttons and ribbon (distressed, of course) to pull it all together.
