A haunting Tag

Today, I posted this tag on the Artistic Outpost blog.
I used the new Haunted Halloween stamp set....such an awesome collection of images!

I started with a #8 manilla tag.  I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer mists:  Sunshine and Midnight Blue.  I forgot to make notes for all the details so I may have used another color like Bubbles, too.  Anyway, the Sunshine is mostly in the center house area with Midnight Blue at the very top and bottom.  The bats and house are stamped with Ranger Archival Jet Black. 
I stamped the crow and circle verse separately.  Both are stamped withVersafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.  I added a little color on the circle with Copic markers.  I also added a little orange to the crow's beak and feet plus gray to the highlights on his feathers.  They're mounted to the tag with foam squares.  The tags at the top are simply strips of paper with the verse stamped and clear embossed.  I punched a hole in one end to tie them to the tag with some yarn and other fibers.

Sunrise

A glorious "Good Morning" to you!

I captured this awesome sunrise one morning last week.
The photo is framed by the edge of our barn and a tree looking towards the northeast just before the sun came up on the horizon.

I shot this a few minutes later as the sun emerged.  The color was incredible.  I cropped this photo to remove some of the ground otherwise it's unedited.

I took this photo just 2 days ago.  Another awesome red sky!

Haunting

This is a card I created with Artistic Outpost's new Haunted Halloween stamps.  I think this is the prettiest witch I've ever seen!
She was so fun to color with Copics (see photo below).  She was my inspiration and starting point.  The house is stamped on a tag that I had sprayed with Glimmer mist.  I used Ranger Archival Jet Black ink.  I stamped the bats in the corners and added a touch of color to the windows with a Copic marker.  I trimmed it close to the stamped image.

The gold/orange mat is card stock stamped repeatedly with the spider webs.  I used several different colors of Memento inks.  I sprayed it with Glimmer Mists Dreamsicle, Wheatfields, and Sunshine. 

I stamped the bats repeatedly over the card front using Memento London Fog ink. The pebbly pattern at the bottom of the card was stamped with the end of the bats stamp that has tiny bats. I thought it worked for a cobblestone effect!

I inked "haunting" from the stamp "A haunting we will go" on a scrap of the same paper as the gold/orange mat.  I used Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed it.  I freehand cut it out and added a narrow black mat.

It's certainly a different take on Halloween colors!

I chose to work with the Haunted Halloween stamps for this release.  My favortie stamp is the house.....and the bats.  Okay, two favorites.  Then there's the Victorian Witch...I like her, too.  I have several favorites!  I had fun working with all the images!  I'm sharing my very favorite creation using this set, a wall hanging.  I really like how this turned out!  
 

I started with the house stamped in Espresso on white card stock.  It's a separate piece than the surrounding background.   I added all the colors with Cut n Dry Foam and Distress inks: Stormy Sky, Antique Linen, Vintage Photo,Wild Honey, Walnut Stain.

Then I went looking for a Spellbinders shape to use with it.  These Wonky Squares seemed perfect for a ghostly house! 
I cut the frame out of brown and red Core'dinations paper and embossed it over Fleur de Lis Impressabilities.  I sanded off some of the brown.  The red color wasn't quite what I wanted so I rubbed Distress Wild Honey over it.  Love the orange color!  
I then stamped the crow with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed him with clear EP.  I added gray to the highlights with Copic N0, N1, N3 and a touch of yellow to his feet and beak with YR18.  I decided right away that I wanted him on the top of the frame.
After trying several size options, I finally settled on 5" x 7".  That's when I decided to make it a hanging rather than a card.

I cut a piece of white card stock to cover my heavy chipboard backing.  I rubbed Antique Linen, Stormy Sky and Vintage Photo into the paper for my background.  I stamped the bats with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink.  I shifted the stamp in order to get the bats along both sides in a pattern that looked natural.  I even rolled the stamp in my hand in order to stamp just one little bat to fill in some areas.....advantage of cling mount stamps!

The scrolly pieces are cut out of very dark green Bazzill paper using Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday....a Christmas set.  I used each of the scrolly pieces in the set.  I glued the long piece along the bottom of the frame. I used one of the little pieces along the side.

"Happy Halloween" is stamped with Black Onyx and clear embossed on the back side of orange Bazzill. I hand cut it and the dark green mat. I used another scrolly piece around it.

Once I had all the pieces laid out, I decided to add another long scroll across the bottom.  I also added the little corner pieces.  Those are the cut-outs from the small scroll pieces. Such a great corner accent! 

I covered the back with DP.  I added a hanging cord of twisted pearl cotton. I used my drill to twist 2 pieces together, fold in half and let it twist together again....4 strands.  I used one of my cast off die cut pieces to cover the cord ends.

Two Gift Cards

I needed a gift card this weekend for a bridal shower.  I put together these 2 cards....one for the shower and one for my stash.

Working from bottom to top, I used the largest Spellbinders S4-295 Lacey Squares to cut the first white layer.  The next layer is S4-291 Labels Fifteen #6 cut from Basic Grey's Lemonade 6 x 6" paper.  A little hard to see is another layer cut with S4-292 Beaded Circles #3.  Over that I've added a white ring cut with Standard Circles but I'm not sure of the sizes. I gave this card away so I can't measure it.   In the center, is a circle of darker red again from Lemonade pad.  For the little sentiment, I used a stamp from JustRite's Birthday Sentiments.  It's stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and clear embossed.  Then I cut and embossed it with Beaded Circles #2.  That embossing adds so much to the edge!  It's popped up with foam tape.  I added a bow with a glue dot.  It's all glued to a 3 1/2" card base.

....and for the 2nd card.    This one is in my stash!

I used some of the same die templates with a square for the sentiment.  
I started with a 4 1/8" square card base.  My first layer is a frame cut with Spellbinders Labels Fifteen #6 (same as first card) and S4-126 Classic Squares LG #5. All paper is from Basic Grey's Porcelain 6 x 6" paper pad.  I added a square of pink paper under the frame opening.  The Lacey Squares piece was cut from the cut-out of the frame.....very little paper waste.  On top is the same verse from JustRite Birthday Sentiments stamped in green - Ranger Lettuce - and clear embossed.  I cut and embossed it with S4-128 Classic Squares SM #3.  Both the Lacey Squares paper and the verse are popped up with foam tape.  I added a ribbon before attaching the verse.  The bow was tied separately and held in place with a Glue Dot.  The final touch - 3 little pearls (Basic Grey)  in the corners around the verse. 

Two very similar cards....same sentiment, some of the same die cuts......yet a different look.  Both easy  to duplicate! There are lots of choices in the JustRite Birthday Sentiments set that could be stamped in place of the "Just for You".

Heraldry Plaques

I created this set of plaques with a man's office or den in mind.  The new Spellbinders S4-300 Heraldry set seemed perfect with the diamond paper from Graphic 45's A Proper Gentleman Collection.  I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress inks to add some aging to it as well as the mats.  Each one is layered on craft foil and dark green Bazzill.  They're mounted on masonite. 

The Heraldry pieces are cut from copper color craft foil.  I love how intricate they are! 

I added the "H" on the center plaque by first stamping with StazOn on the front of my embossed wings piece.  Then I outlined it with a fine stylus for metal embossing....a good substitute is a dry ball point pen. Next, I worked on the back side with a paper stump to emboss the letter (an embossing stylus would work, too).  I added the texture around it with it face up placed over a piece of window screen and rubbed with a paper stump.   

Each of the Heraldry pieces were rubbed with black acrylic paint to define the embossing with the excess wiped off.  Then I sanded them a bit to reveal some of the silver color...a great technique for embossed colored foil. 

Each emblem is mounted with foam tape on mats cut with Labels Four #4,5; Labels Five #5; Labels Nine #4.  I added 3 tiny copper brads above the wings plaque and there's a silver one at the top of the emblem.

Little Notebooks

Tonight, I have a couple little note pads to share! 
These are great to tuck in your purse or give as a little gift.

Each of these covers started as shiny metallic gold card stock from Worldwin.  I embossed the paper and then colored it with StazOn.  I love how rich the colors turned out.

I started with a piece of gold metallic cardstock 3 1/16" x 11".  I scored it at 3", 3 7/16", 7 1/2", 8 15/16".  I cut the flap edge about 2 1/4" from last fold. Then I embossed it placing the edge of the Impressabilities along a fold line, repeated until it was completely embossed.  I rubbed  Azure StazOn over some areas and then added Midnight Blue.  I sanded it a bit to remove color on the embossed pattern.  I cut a liner of light weight cardstock.  I put the cover through my Xyron with permanent adhesive.  I applied the lining paper to the cover, working from one end towards opposite end and making the folds as I went.  Once it was all together and folded well, I  used the same Labels Six die template to cut the curved edge of the lining to match the previously cut edge.  (alternate way:  glue lining and cover together before cutting shaped edge.  Then cut both pieces together for flap.)  To hold it shut, I glued on a thin magnet to flap and bottom cover. 

The purple note pad was created with StazOn Vibrant Violet and Royal Purple. 

It was made to fit a 3" x 5" note pad.  I used  Spellbinders 12-1006 Floral and Stone Impressabilities for embossing and S4-233 Labels Nine to cut the flap edge.

I used DP for the inside of purple one. 

I added a decorative piece cut with one of the shapes from S4-200 Flower Bouquet on the outside of the flap.  The note pad is held in place with double stick adhesive. 

These were so fun to create!

Spellbinders Grand Calibur

Have you seen it?  It was just released at CHA. 

The Grand Calibur is wide enough to accept a full 8.5 x 11" piece of paper!  It's cuts up to 8.25" wide.  There are new large format die templates, too.

These shapes continue in size from the original Nestabilities™  shapes. 

 Imagine how many die templates you can place on the mats to cut at one time!

I'm excited that it's "quiet"!   I love my Wizard.  It cuts great and has lots of pressure.  It's just not quiet when I'm creating late at night.......something I do often!  LOL

Back from CHA

Good Morning!

Have you been wondering if I'd ever post anything new?

I got back from CHA very late Thursday night.  I had plans to do some creating and post here on Friday.   So much for plans......I didn't know my brother in law was coming to stay for the weekend.  I had to do a little cleaning and food planning besides my unpacking and laundry.

I also had projects to finish for Spellbinders.  So that's what I've been concentrating on.  Plus my sister came to visit.  Great to see her!

I finally finished all my Spellbinders paper work and sent off my projects.  Whew!  Good feeling.

Now, for something to share....

This is one of my Spellbinders layouts.  I created the little tractor with Inverted Scalloped Circles and Circle die templates for the wheels.  The steering wheel is an oval with the center from Snowflake Wonder.  The body is a Long Classic Rectangle plus a few other parts. It says:  "no trip to Grandma's house is ever complete without a Tractor Ride". 

 This was a fun LO to put together!
