Get Well Card

Happy World Cark Making Day!
Lots of card making inspiration to see online!

I put together a quick Get Well card tonight.

It's been a long time since I sat down to stamp! It was fun to quickly stamp flowers and leaves across a piece of white card stock.  The gate is cut from black card stock with Scor-Tape applied to the back before cutting.  After cutting, it's like a sticker with adhesive on all the small areas. The gate is fastened right over the flowers.   To finish it, I added lime, black, and print paper mats plus the greeting. Easy!

It was especially easy because I had the gate leftover from another project!  You can see that on Spellbinders Blog tomorrow!   Check it out!  It's a totally different use of the gate and fence.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!  I hope you've found some bit of inspiration!

Happy creating!

Postal Retirement Ornament

Today was the last day of work for many of my fellow postmasters.  Due to changes in structure and size of small Post Offices, many postmasters were forced to find a larger office to manage or retire.  Many of us like our small town offices and don't want to work in a large office.  So many of my postmaster friends said "goodbye" to their postal careers.  I wish them well in their retirement!

This is an ornament I made for one of them commemorating her 35 year career.

I added bits and pieces of postal memorabilia in a bezel and sealed it in Ice Resin.  Small red and blue beads dangle at the bottom, hidden by the bow in this photo.  I even made the tiny mail box out of craft aluminum.  Inside is a tiny envelope with retirement wishes on it! It was fun to make. She loved it!

Thanks for visiting!

Joy Christmas Card

Good day!  I hope you've had a chance to stop over at the Spellbinders' 12 Days of Christmas Blog post today!  I share a new die - S4-434 Holiday Greetings - and a technique to use Scor-Tape and glitter.  Yesterday, I posted a peek at another card created with the word "JOY" and snowflakes from Holiday Greetings die.  Here's the card.........

It's a different take on holiday colors!  I was experimenting with the die cuts using black paper. I couldn't just throw away this glitter strip with black letters!  So I rubbed the "JOY" letters with DecoArt Metallic Lustre Champagne Ice.  It adds the silver looking color on embossed areas.  It's layered over a piece of stripe ribbon.  I distressed a piece of music paper and sewed it to a black card. The 3 snowflakes are also die cuts from Holiday Greetings die.  There are 3 pieces of narrow ribbon glued across the bottom of the card with 3 silver beads on one.  I stamped a holiday script over the music but it's not very visible.  It adds a little character to the music paper!

I hope you've enjoyed this card as well as the cards on Spellbinders' Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas blog hop!

My day on Spellbinders 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop

Saturday, August 23rd, is my day to reveal a new holiday die set on the Spellbinders blog!

http://www.spellbinderspaperarts.com/Community/Blog.aspx
Click here to go to Spellbinder's blog post.

I've created 6 cards from the pieces from one die cut just once!  The ribbon on the photo above shows one of the words from the die.  I love the vintage look of the those letters!

Here's a little peek at those letters on a card.  I'll share the technique I use to create the glitter band with the letters on the Spellbinders blog post.  And don't forget to enter for a chance to win some of the new Holiday dies!!!

Spellbinders Announcement

Finally.......I can share the news!!!
I've been selected to be on the Spellbinders Design Team for 2014-2015!   What a great honor to be chosen again!!!    Thanks Spellbinders!!!  You rock my world!

Spellbinders is announcing members of the new Design Team on the blog this week and next.  Each day a designer is featured.  Today is my day!  You can see the blog post here.

I chose a few of my favorite Spellbinders projects to share today. Some you may have seen, some may be new.

This is one of my all time favorite scrapbook pages.

I created this layout for my final round to make the DT in 2010, my first year on the team.  The assigned dies were a Film Strip and Inverted Scalloped Circles.  Can you find those shapes?

This is another favorite page.......the photo was my inspiration!

I freehand cut a tree trunk to fit along the edge of the page and added many, many die cut leaves!

Of all the handmade books I've made.......

.......my Sprocket Journal is one my favorites.

My Blue Green Goddess was created with the Jewels Goddess die.  This was a fun project!

Lots of inks and mists, canvas, ribbon, tulle, foil, wire and gems!  Everything I like to play with!

Bronze Angel is new to my blog!  This was another project that was fun to create.  Although she looks bronze, all the metal is actually aluminum.  I added various paints, inks and DecoArt Metallic Lustre to get the bronze color.  She has fabric sleeves and peplum.  She holds a tiny fabric bird in a nest of wire.  Product details can be found on Spellbinders website here. If you'd like to know more details, add a comment asking and I'll post more another time.

Thanks for visiting project memory lane with me!

I'm looking forward to an awesome year with Spellbinders!  One can only guess what new and exciting products will be released this year!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy creating!

Spellbinders Springtime Shipping Frenzy – Day #1

Hello Blog Friends!!!!
A warm welcome to everyone and especially to all you Spellbinders® fans coming to check out today’s Shipping Frenzy project!  Today, I’m excited to share a project that showcases some of the new A Gilded Life products.  If you aren’t familiar with Spellbinders A Gilded Life products, check them out on their  website HERE.   Good News!  This incredible line of products can be found in a Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store near you the week of April 6th!
I know you’re all scrolling down to see the project……so here it is!

This small handmade album has been decorated using A Gilded Life dies, bezels and texture plates.  The album is 5 ¾ x 7 ½ʺ with cardstock pages.  The supply list is after the directions.

Here are the directions....

Cut stiff chipboard covers: 2 - ⅞ x 7 ½ʺ; 2 – 5 x 7 ½ʺ
Align one of each piece with ⅛ʺ gap.  Place hinge tape over gap and cover pieces wrapping it to cover both sides.  Repeat for other cover.

Apply PVA glue to front of one cover.  Glue rice paper over cover.  Wrap to inside and glue mitering corners.  Use bone folder to press paper into gap.  (I used rice paper as a first layer because it’s strong and I wanted the cover to be durable.  This step could be eliminated.)  Repeat for other cover
Again use PVA glue to fasten mulberry paper to both covers.  Wrap to inside and glue.

Cut Kraft card stock a little smaller than cover for inside.  Align on cover and mark fold/gap.  Score cardstock.  Use Xyron to apply permanent adhesive to one side.  Fasten to inside of cover.  Repeat for other cover.

Ink French Script texture plate with Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa and press against covers just as you would a stamp.

Rub VersaMagic Pixie Dust direct to paper  over Kraft card stock

Cut with Grand Calibur® machine: Vintage Brocade rectangle.  Cut/emboss Rose Medallion and 2 – Quatrefoil Bands.

Use Wrought Iron texture plate to emboss rectangle.

Apply Metallic Lustre to all pieces starting with Champagne Ice.  Then add touches of Gold Rush.  Finally add just a touch of Iced Espresso.  I used that mostly on the Quatrefoil bands.   I rub the Metallic
Lustre on with my finger.  (The easiest way to clean it off your finger is to press against sticky side of tape)

Apply 2ʺ Scor-Tape to Kraft card stock.  Tape Petite Monarch die over Scor-Tape.  Cut using Junior Metal Shim, base plate and pink embossing plate.  The Scor-Tape backing is very tough to cut.  The metal shim makes it cut easier.

Remove tape backing.  Sprinkle with Vintage Glass Glitter.  Press glitter into tape.

Then sprinkle with Flax glitter and remove excess.  Because the Vintage Glass is quite coarse there are gaps between so the Flax glitter fills in those spaces.

Fasten Quatrefoil Bands to spine area of each cover with Scor-Tape.  I also used glue along the edges.
Fasten embossed rectangle along right edge with craft glue.
Fasten Rose Medallion strip over rectangle using Scor-Tape and glue.  Place it about ¼ʺ from left edge of rectangle.

Glue glittered Petite Monarch piece along left edge of rectangle.  (I forgot a photo, see on album cover

Glue gathered tulle along Rose Medallion with 3 in 1 Craft Glue.

Thread gold cord through organdy trim. Glue it over edge of tulle trim.
Stitch rhinestone band to trim at top & bottom.

Cut organdy heart with Hearts die.  Use metal shim sandwich to cut it.

String pearls on thread.  (I used 26) Knot thread. Glue to edge of organdy.

Place glue around outer edges Hearts Bezel Small – Bronze.  Press organdy heart and pearls into bezel.

Make small tassel with pearl cotton.  Wrap wire around top. Fasten to bezel with pearl cotton.

Glue Rhinestone in gold spacer bead.  Glue in bezel.Tie bezel to trim on album front.  Add crystals and pearls along points of glittered Petite Monarch strip.

Cut pages 5 ¾ x 7 ¼ʺ from cream card stock.

Cut 1 x 7¼ʺ strips to add to envelopes.  Fasten to bottom edge of envelope with Scor-Tape so they are same size as pages.  Emboss envelope flaps.

Punch two holes in edge of each cover.  Insert and set bronze eyelets.
Mark pages for holes.  Punch holes in all pages and envelopes

Stack covers and pages.  Thread ribbons through front eyelet, pages and back cover and back through back cover, pages and out front cover.  I used a piece of wire folded to slip over ribbon ends.  It works like a needle only easier to slip ribbon into it.  Tie in bow.

Voila!   A beautiful album!
I hope I've inspired you today!  Lots of exciting new products and maybe some new techniques for you!

Special Birthday Wishes

Today, I have a card to share........

Wow!  It's been a long time since I sat down to make a card!  I've been using cards from my stash.
I put this card together for my daughter.  Today is her birthday.   Happy birthday, Jenny!

My card base is 5 x 7" cream card stock.  All patterned papers are by Melissa Frances including the rose sticker.  I used a new Spellbinders die, Romantic Rectangles Two, to cut the lacey edge rectangles.  The edges were inked with Distress Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. I also stamped faint script around the edges of the background paper.  I stamped "you are so special" on a narrow strip of sticker to add to the rose piece.  The embossed foil was cut and embossed with a new Spellbinders Gilded Life die, Petite Lace.  Love the lacey look!  The foil is gold.  I sanded it lightly to reveal some of the silver color.  Then I sponged Spa Blue paint over it and wiped off the paint on the embossed areas.  My card actually started with this piece!  It was an experimental piece that I really like so I found papers to go with it.  The seam binding was misted and crinkles to look old and tied into a loose bow.  I've tucked a small stick pin with a bead into the bow.

Happy creating!
