New Artistic Outpost Stamps!!!

Artistic Outpost has 3 new stamp sets being released today!!!!

Here's a little about the three sets being released:

Apothecary  -   Before the invention of the drive-thru Walgreens®, the apothecary was not just a dispenser of medicines, but also a mix-ologist of tonics, keeper of secrets, and giver of advice.  Antique apothecary bottles are highly collectible in part due to the “mystery” of what could actually be in them.  Our AO stylized bottle has a blank space that our “product” labels fit perfectly into…or hand write your prescription on our vintage Rx pad.

Frosty & Friends  -  I love the sweetness of vintage Christmas cards.  The secular imagery was dreamy and cute...so sugary sweet my teeth hurt just to look at them.  This collection features some of our favorite images from our own AO collection of vintage ephemera

Halloween Treats  -   Growing up, our Halloween decorations were Technicolor large die cuts of pumpkins and kitty cats and witches on broomsticks.  These stamps remind me of those “cardboard” cut-outs.  How I wished we had saved them!   Try mixing this set with our other Halloween collections as well as Apothecary!

You're definitely going to want to check out projects by these Design Team members:

They'll have lots of inspiration for you!

I chose to work with Apothecary and Frosty and Friends for this release.  I did not work with Halloween Treats.  I know some of the other Design Team members will have samples made with that set.

This is the card I made with Apothecary:

I think this would make a great masculine "Get Well" card.  I certainly didn't start out with that in mind!  It just evolved!!!
I chose the man, building, word "Apothecary" and the bottle stamps and started stamping.  My first idea was a collage of those stamps.  Before I had even stamped anything, I was onto another idea!
I cut out the Spellbinders Labels Twenty-One with an oval opening from Kraft card stock.  Then I stamped the man with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I used Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Black Soot Distress inks to add color.  I stamped "Apothecary" on white cardstock and added Distress inks.  I cut it out with one of the pennants from Spellbinders Nested lacey Pennants.  Next I stamped the building, again on white cardstock and colored with Distress inks.  I trimmed it to fit behind the oval opening.  I stamped and cut out the bottle.  The label was stamped separately and adhered to the bottle.  The bottle is colored with Distress Tea Dye.  I thought that color looked more like the old amber or brown medicine bottles!  I stamped 10 cents and punched it out with a circle punch.  Again it's distressed.  I added a little hole to tie it around the bottle neck with bakers' brown and white cord. The background papers are from Graphic 45.  Of course, I inked them, too!!

Now for Frosty and Friends:

Frosty is my favorite image from this set of stamps!  He's just so cute!
I started by stamping him on white cardstock.  I also stamped the image on Eclipse tape and cut out Frosty.  I placed the mask over my stamped piece so I could add Antique Linen ink to the music background and keep Frosty white!  I also stamped the scarf with Cranberry ink and cut it out.  I stamped the mitten with Memento Tuxedo Black and the bird with Espresso.  Both were cut out and colored with Copic markers. I added a touch of shading to Frosty with pale blue and gray Copic markers.  I glued the scarf, mitten and bird in place.  To make the hat shiny, I inked it with a Versamark marker and clear heat embossed it.  Be sure the Distress ink around it is dry or it will grab the embossing powder, too!
Frosty is layered on black and red mats.
The card background paper is from My Mind's Eye Holly Jolly collection.  I added Antique Linen and Vintage Photo inks along the edges.  The size is 4 1/4" x 6".
I used another paper from that collection to stamp "Merry Christmas and clear heat emboss it.  The edges are cut with one of the new Spellbinders Edgeabilities called Classic Bracket.  I matched the edges with a red mat at the bottom. On the top edge, I offset the edges for a different look. I added 3 red brads at one end and baker's twine tied around the other end.  It's mounted with foam tape.

Frosty and Friends is such a cute set of stamps!  I'm going to have fun making holiday cards with it!!!

I hope you've enjoyed my cards.  Now, hop on over to one of the other Design Team members blogs to catch some more inspiration!!!

Please note that due to the high volume during new releases, that “mounted” stamp collections may take 10 days to ship.  We will keep you posted on your order, and thank you so much for visiting our outpost.

My Cards on the Spellbinders Blog

How special to see my cards on the Spellbinders blog yesterday!

Spellbinders featured the new Edgeabilities on the blog.    Here's a link if you missed it!

How to use the new Edgeabilities Die Templates! on Spellbinders' Blog.

I mixed and matched many of the new Edgeabilitiesto create these cards!  The Edgeabilities™ are so versatile! All these designs can be mixed because the sizing is in 1" increments for all the pieces. Just imagine the possibilities!!!! There are over 70 combinations!

The directions for all the cards are available from Spellbinders.  The Spellbinders blog post of July 14 (link above) has links to them all!  I'm not going to give the directions here.  I've added a brief description with a few details with each card below.

On the friendship card, I used the Edgeabilities
on the edges of the pearlescent cream mat and the navy one, too!  This takes a little extra effirt to align them and tape to hold them in place while cutting!  The results are so unique!  I had fun with it!

The directions for all the cards are accessible from the Spellbinders Blog posting from July 14.  You can access it from the link at the beginning of this post.

I cut a scalloped edge with a decorative accent for this card.  A very easy and simple application of the Edgeabilities.  It adds so much to this simple card design.  For an even more elegant presentation of this card, cut the envelope flap to match!

This card is definitely more involved.  The edge however isn't hard to duplicate.  I cut a scallop edge and the half flowers on a strip of navy card stock.  It's layered over a cream strip which also has a scalloped edge.  The top edge is straight.  I layered it over a strip of MME stripe paper.  Then I added the "negative" strip of cream paper behind the stripe.  It's the reverse of the scallop edge!  None of it is hard to cut, it's just several layers!
For all the directions, go to the Spellbinders Blog post of July 14.

For this birthday card, I ceated a decorative panel by cutting multiple designs into it.  I started in the center and moved out on both sides.  To cut the flowers in the center, I cut a length of the "half" flowers.  Then I laid the Edgeabilities the opposite way and lined up the center holes.  Lots of tape to hold the die template in place while I cut!  Next I cut the diamond/circle strips.  I've added a strip of deep pink behind to add a different color.  Next, the flowers again and finally the scallop edge.  I cut a cream mat with scalloped edges to layer behind.  The dark pink scallops are just strips added at the edge.  The little navy points between the scallops are the "negative" left from cutting the scallop edge on flower piece.  I adhered them behind so that just the points are visible.

Thanks for visiting!
Have a great day!

More Spellbinders Edgeabilities Videos!

Spellbinders just released 2 new videos about Edgeabilities!

These exciting new die templates cut edges and decorative accents that coordinate with the edge.  Each set features an Edgeabilities that cuts an edge and 2 decorative accents!  All the pieces from all the sets can be interchanged and used together.  Your imagination is the limit as to the combinations!

Here's the "Mix and Match Edgeabilities" video:

This a great opportunity to see the Edgeabilities and learn all about them!!!

The 2nd video is called "Edgeabilities How to Techniques"!

This video shows how to cut wth the Edgeabilities and mix and match them to create uniques edges as well as decroative strips.  Lots of great info!

At the end, Stacey and Kim show some sample cards created with different Edgeabilities.  I created those samples!!!  It's so exciting to see them on the video!   I hope to share them with you sometime in the future.  For now, you'll just have to see them on the video!

All 6 sets of Edgeabilities!

I hope you're as excited as I am about these new Edgeabilities!!!

Keep creating!

Thank you, Spellbinders Paper Arts, for sponsoring this contest!

I’m thrilled to share with you two projects using LF-002 Creative Book Pages Two from the Donna Salazar colection!
I created this Journey Travel Album to showcase the wonderful collection of die templates in Spellbinders LF-002 Creative Book Pages Two!
There are so many ways to use all these shapes.   Imagine all the mini albums you can create with this set!

Let’s get into the details…….

I love vintage things.  I especially like to create something new that has a vintage, time worn look.  That was my goal with this album.
The front cover, divider pages and back cover are all similar. I’ll go into detail for the front and back covers. You can easily recreate the divider pages from my photos as they use techniques used on the front and back covers. I used the Grand Calibur Machine for all cutting.  It's so easy to cut multiple pieces at one time with it!!!   I've used Distress Vintage Photo ink throughout. Whenever the directions say “ink”, it means to use Distress Vintage Photo ink.  I’ve also used Scor-Tape™ to put all the pieces together.  It’s a very good adhesive that sticks to the Distress ink even if it’s not completely dry.  A good thing since I don’t have much patience to wait for ink to dry!   For sanding, I used a foam sanding block, the kind found in a hardware store.

Let’s start with the front cover and move through the album to the back cover!

I imagined this album as a take along on a trip when I created it. A place to make notes, add post cards and other collected items as well as photos and sketches made along the way!  I even added some photo corners in the pocket on the inside cover.

Here are all the cut pieces needed to make the cover including the paper for the inside.

Cheerio!

Here's a card I created for Artistic Outpost
I've used stamps from Loverly London and London Underground.  These sets work so well together!
I stamped a collage for the background using the London skyline in black with Big Ben. I added the flags and "London" with Distress Pumice Stone ink.  My stamps had a touch of red ink on them so the color isn't true Pumice Sone.  I like the effect!  I also inked around the edges.   I stamped the gentleman separately and fussy cut him to mount with foam tape over the background. I added a touch of Pumice Stone ink to his coat and hat. I chose paper colors from Graphic 45 to coordinate for a very monochromatice color scheme.  "Cheerio" is stamped in black and clear heat embossed.  A great guy card!

Stay tuned for my Spellbinders Blog Frenzy post early tomorrow morning!!!!
Happy Day!

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July to everyone!

I'm spending the weekend with family at a get-to-gether at my sister's lake home. We're in northern Minnesota. Beautiful weather once the storms of Friday night passed!

It's good to be here as there's no electricity at my home. Southwestern Minnesota was hit by very strong winds that took down lots of power lines as well as trees and buildings. We have some tree damage but no building damage. Two of my uncles who live near my house have been running a generator off and on to power the freezer and fridge. Hopefully, all the food will be okay. Some of our neighbors got power yesterday. I sure hope we have power by the time we get home tomorrow!

As for us here at the lake, we're all enjoying hanging out together! Some swimming, tubing, boating, a few walks, fabulous food (my sister loves to cook),lots of chatting and even a bit of weeding of the flower beds! It's a much needed chance for me to catch up on rest!

Wishing you a great day celebrating the independence of our nation! Thankful for all the freedoms and blessings we enjoy in this great country.

Have a great 4th!
